Wherever possible, compact fluorescent and T5 linear fluorescent lamps have been used. In some areas, they have been combined with CDM-T lamps to retain efficiency while providing a higher light output where needed.
The court is a PFI project and was required to offer low life-cycle costs without compromising on performance.
In offices, the greatest challenge was to achieve a glare rating of 16, dictated by the Court Service design team, which is more stringent than the CIBSE design code of 19. Vivant ceiling-recessed downlighters proved ideal in directing light to ceilings and walls, while remaining within the glare criteria.
