All types of utility meter can be read and up to 100 separate meter-reading tours stored. A barcode scanner identifies the meter, and there is a touch-sensitive screen for entering data. As a reading is keyed in, Meteor validates it and prompts the user to check and re-enter any erroneous figures.
Software in Meteor tells users which meters they have visited and which they still have to read. Information can be transferred to a computer database.
