This £35 million project, called the ATRiuM, is a sleek, glass-fronted building. It consists of the remodelling of a 6500 m2 former BT building with a 3700 m2 extension linked to the existing building.
Hoare Lea designed the overall M&E solution, and Grundfos Pumps worked with mechanical contractor CMB Engineering to meet the specifications. All the pumps were supplied via BSS Cardiff.
The Building Regulations requirement of at least a 27% improvement in energy performance compared with the 2002 regulations has been considerably bettered, with a 42% improvement. Traditional systems are generally used, with a good design, good room-by-room control systems and Grundfos variable-speed pumps.
