Underfloor heating helps to protect vulnerable tenants in Banbury
Published:  June 2008

Even-Heat underfloor heating in this apartment block in Banbury helps ensure the safety of vulnerable tenants.

Even-Heat underfloor heating is contributing to a safe environment for vulnerable tenants in a new apartment block in Banbury. Cheshire Court is a development by Hills Partnership on behalf of the Bromford Housing Group, a major housing association in the Midlands. The 12 single-bedroom apartments have easy access for wheelchairs and no threat from hot, sharp surfaces.

A concrete floor construction is used for all floors. During installation, loops of 17 mm cross-linked polyethylene pipe with integral oxygen-diffusion barrier were laid above a layer of insulation. Loop ends were terminated at discreetly located manifolds and connected to the flow and return pipework of individual gas-fired condensing boilers in each apartment.

Each room of each apartment is controlled as a separate zone and has its own thermostat and actuator head at the manifold.

The Even-Heat systems were installed by Ambivent.
