LTI makes the famous black cab in its Coventry factory, and the overheating occurred in an 1170 m2 area where welding is carried out.
Clean Air Systems calculated that two Breezair coolers would provide sufficient cool, fresh air to overcome the problems. They would be installed on an outside wall with air ducted via a grille into the welding area of the workshop. This flow of air would also dispel the build-up of welding fumes.
Before placing the order, a director of LTI and two managers visited another Breezair installation in Coventry to see the system in action.
Tony Curtis, maintenance support engineer with LTI, says, ‘We used to have regular complaints about the heat and fumes. Now employees in the welding area are really enjoying the benefits of the Breezair system, with improved working conditions which have been translated into greater productivity from our staff.’
Following the success of the workshop installation, Clean Air Systems was invited back to survey the offices — leading to the installation of three Breezair coolers, ducting and grilles.
