Pilkington delivers higher energy efficiency for windows
Published:  October 2007

Pilkington has developed an insulating glass unit for windows that can be used with most frame materials to achieve a Window Energy Rating of at least C and easily exceed the requirement for compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations.

EnergiKare is made from 4 mm Pilkington K Glass and 4 mm of Pilkington Optiwhite and must be filled with argon gas. When combined using a standard aluminium spacer bar, rather than a more expensive warm-edge space, it offers a cost-effective product that is easy to process and readily available throughout the UK. There is no significant change for processors in assembling these units.

K Glass is a low-emissivity glass, and Optiwhite is a ultra-clear glass that enables more heat from the Sun to be captures and used inside buildings. Both glasses are standard products.
