Kevin says, ‘I decided to take part because in October 2005, whilst training for a half marathon, I was diagnosed with acute angina, which resulted in heart surgery to fit a stent into one of my main arteries, which was 90% blocked. My father also died of coronary heart disease aged just 43.
‘I have recently returned to running to keep fit, and, as a thank you to the staff at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, who possibly saved my life, I am running the New York Marathon in November.’
