These modules are configured for use with different types of input and output signals, making them highly versatile — so that only four types of module are needed to cover the different building-services requirements for integrating plant and field devices.
They are compact, and up to 12 I/O points can be connected to an area the size of a credit card. All connection terminals are short-circuit proof and protected against incorrect wiring. A single module on a rail can be replaced without affecting other modules, simplifying maintenance.
The new modules are compatible with other Siemens systems and said to be ideal for use in refurbishments thanks to their flexible layout options.
TX-I/O modules are connected via a field bus to a PXC modular controller. Distributed intelligence is possible, with I/O modules connected in islands up to 50 m from the controller. The modular controllers use standard BACnet communication via LonTalk or IP.
