Fault finder for inverter-controlled chillers
Published:  June 2007
EDC

This highly portable device from EDC International enables faults with inverter drives and compressors in chillers to be identified.

Using EDC International’s Inverter Phase Check modules makes it possible to determine whether problems with inverter-controlled chillers are due to the compressor or the inverter.

The 3-phase supply to the chiller is fed through the device. If all of a series of lamps illuminate, the inverter PCB is healthy, so the chiller must be faulty. The position of the fault in the inverter is indicated by lamps being on or off.

The chiller Phase Check measures only 81 x 73, 28 mm and can be carried in a tool box. It comes with a series of connection leads.
