In just 18 months, the two companies designed, developed and fitted a system that incorporates customised yoke brackets to secure 3 m lengths of wire tray upside down along ducts in the roof. A custom-designed solid metal lid covers the tray and is coloured to match the decor.
The tray supports the weight of the fittings. Power and data cables are easily accessible from below because the lid is fixed with recessed clips.
This solution was developed as an alternative to a busbar system that was being considered. Crown House project engineer Julien Hipeau says that the wire-mesh tray was easier to install.
A major benefit of using Cablofil tray for the lighting was that installers were already familiar with the product. 400 km of wire-mesh cable tray has been used in T5, about three-quarters of it in services modules made off site by Crown House and the rest fixed traditionally.
Wholesaler Hagemeyer supplied the Cablofil tray for the project.
