These kits can be fitted in less than five minutes by non-specialist staff to fittings using conventional or electronic ballasts. They include a T5 lamp, connectors with integral electronic control gear and a bridge that replaces the starter and bypasses the old gear. To enhance light distribution, a clip-on reflector optimised for T5 lamps is available.
EasyFit T5 is said to reduce upgrade costs by 70% compared to installing new T5 fittings. Energy and maintenance savings lead to a payback of less than a year.
A 58 W T8 lamp with a conventional ballast consumes 77 W of electricity or 66 W with an electronic ballast. The same light output can be achieve with a 35 W T5 lamp with a ballast loss of just 1.2 W — a reduction of 30 or 40 W depending on the previous ballast.
The kit features double-sided pre-heating of the lamp to extend life to 24 000 h, compared to 8000 h for T8 lamps with conventional ballasts.
Further energy savings can be achieved by dimming lamps using simple and inexpensive controls.
