Glenstal Abbey is a Benedictine monastery comprising a 500 acre estate surrounding a castle. The monks manage a boarding school for boys, a dairy farm and a guest house.
The YCSE heat pump was specified as part of the geothermal system design by Dunstar. It is located in a plant room close to the church, library and other buildings. Water from the lake provides the heat source for the heat pump, which delivers water at 50°C to radiators in the church and an underfloor heating system elsewhere on the site.
York’s Cork office has supplied heat pumps for eight Dunstar projects and is discussing several new projects.
