Trend shares knowledge of efficient buildings
Leading BMS specialist Trend Control Systems attended Education Estates 2017 in November, to showcase its latest energy-saving technologies suited to learning environments. The event highlighted how controls technology can make learning environments more resilient and sustainable, while ensuring high standards of comfort and wellbeing.
Trend was exhibiting alongside its sister company, Ex-Or by Honeywell, and showed how the two organisations work together to maximise comfort and productivity by controlling and monitoring all facets of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), and lighting.
A key focus for Education Estates 2017 was the drive for greater efficiency and better asset management and visitors to the Trend stand learned how a BEMS can minimise the risks associated with adverse situations such as plant failure or environmental conditions falling outside acceptable parameters – events that can cause serious disruption to teachers, pupils and parents.
Equally important is indoor air quality, which has a major influence on the health, comfort and wellbeing of teachers and pupils. A BEMS should automatically control to pre-defined setpoints by constantly tracking changes in both external and internal temperatures, air quality and lighting levels, and adjust the HVAC and lighting before occupants even notice that environmental conditions are changing around them.
Trend’s BEMS have been installed in many of the UK’s educational establishments and the company’s marketing manager, Casey Wells commented: “The education sector, more than most, is required to provide a high quality built environment and supporting infrastructure, which must be sustainable, affordable and, above all else, remain compliant and resilient and we were delighted to be able to demonstrate to visitors how a BEMS can meet all of these requirements and more.”
