CIS solar tower goes live

Prime Minister Tony Blair has switched on the first stage of the CIS ‘solar tower’ project in Manchester. The south side of the 122 m-high building went live as Mr Blair pressed the switch feeding electricity into the national grid. One all 7000 photo-voltaic panels are in place as part of the recladding of this Grade 2 listed building, it is expected that 180 MWh of renewable electricity will be generated each year. |
