Three Nu-way XGN 2100 burners and three wheel-over shrouds were supplied to replace burners that had reached the end of their economical life. The equipment was fitted to three Hoval boilers that supply medium-temperature hot water to DHW calorifiers, the main office heating system and the Versatemp heat-pump system. The equipment was specified by Interserve Facilities Management.
Paul Greengrass, export director for Nu-way, explains, ‘The XGN burners for this project have variable-speed drives, which greatly improves combustion efficiency and reduces emissions.’
Nu-way says that the use of fully modulating burners, which are micro-processor controlled and integrated to the building-management system, reduces hysteresis and, therefore, increases fuel efficiency. Better burner control and moving to more advanced modulating digital systems can reduce annual fuel costs by 3 to 8%.
The modulating version of the XGN burners is on the Energy Technology and qualifies for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
