The 5-minute production is on a CD and ‘stars’ two teams of fabricators in two races assembling a length of ducting — one using traditional sheet-metal ductwork and the other pre-insulated Kingspan KoolDuct.

In the first race, the Kingspan team finished their installation first, and the other team is then seen cutting rolls of insulation to required lengths, which then need to be fixed to the sheet-metal system after the duct installation was finished.

The second race demonstrates that Koolduct was twice as fast — excluding the extra time to insulate the galvanised ducting.

Called ElectroMax, it is targeted at dwellings that are regarded as unsuitable for using mains gas for central heating. Reasons may include gas-supply restrictions or issues surrounding flueing, pluming or condensate drainage.

Desigo

Significant reductions in wiring requirements can be achieved using Siemens’ Desigo PX range of I/O modules, which are sited close to the plant they control.

Instantaneous domestic hot water is provided to order using a heating circuit and SAV’s heat exchange module.

SAV moves into high-efficiency hot water
Published:  February 2006

SAV Valve Systems has introduced a heat-exchange module to produce domestic hot water direct from cold mains using heat from central boiler plant. It comprises a compact plate heat exchanger and differential-pressure control valve (DPCV). Cold water is heated directly, so no separate cylinder or calorifier is required.
