Ladies show the way at Faber Maunsell

Two graduates working for Faber Maunsell have received prestigious awards. Emma Clark, 23, a graduate environmental scientist, has been named Faber Maunsell’s graduate of the year. She is a graduate of Durham University and works with Faber Maunsell’s energy clients, including E-on and NPower designing wind farms and advising on sustainability. She is a qualified BREEAM assessor and can undertake cross-divisional work. She received a cheque for £2000. Emma Clarke comments, ‘I have been fortunate that Faber Maunsell has supported me through my final year at university, allowing me to study while gaining hands -on experience working on live projects. Previous winners have gone on to greater things within the company. Winning the award has already opened up opportunities for me that I might not otherwise have had.’ Catrina Thompson-O’Connor, a first-class graduate in civil engineering from the University of Teesside, has received further recognition from the university with the Cecil M. Yuill Award for achievement by a female in any field of engineering. Faber Maunsell’s regional director John Gill says, ‘To have national graduate of the year based in Newcastle is a bit of a coup, and for Catrina to be further recognised by the University of Teesside is another significant achievement.’
